Soap Making made Easy
There are many ways you can design and make soap. From the innate properties of the soap, to its color, added properties and its shape and size, there are many things that you can alter to make showering and bath time more interesting. In addition to just cleaning yourself, soaps with excellent designs may also be used as decors to improve the overall look of your bathroom.
Because of the many ways you can alter soap, it would be perfectly normal to assume that it is a hard process to make. But as stated earlier, the hardest part is molding and designing your soap into something that you like. Even little children can take this up as a hobby due to the easy process. But keep in mind that children need to be supervised at all times because they will be handling dangerous substances.
You will need to obtain your main ingredients, which are oil and lye. in addition to these, you may want to use other ingredients such as dyes, and fragrant oils to add to the appeal of your soap and give it the properties that you like. The tools that you will need are bowls, mixing tools, molds, and protective equipment to prevent yourself from getting injured due to contact with lye.
Before starting with the soap making process, you also have to have knowledge about how much of each ingredient you will need. You will need to do research on the different recipes that you can use for making soap. Changing the quantity of each type of oil that you use can greatly alter the properties of your soap. You may also want to decide whether you are going to use the cold or hot process of soap making.
After doing your research, you are now ready to start making your own soap. Once you have your protective gear on, you may start dissolving your lye in water. When the lye is fully dissolved, you can now add your oil so that the mixture can undergo saponification.
When the mixture is done, you may now add the extra ingredients that you want, such as the coloring dyes and herbal leaf extract. Continue stirring your mixture until your ingredients are completely distributed in the liquid. Once you are satisfied, you may now pour this mixture into molds and wait for it to harden.
This soap will still need to be aged after hardening, especially if you used the cold method in making the soap. This will ensure that your soap is hard all throughout and that its properties are fully incorporated into the soap. This will usually take around 4 weeks before it is ready to use.
After the aging process, you may now use your soap when showering, or use them as decors for your bathroom. This way, you are enhancing the appearance of your bathroom. You may also want to give these out to your friends or relatives as gifts.
